Your First Appointment

Dr. Hollar's special interest is in reconstructive, implant, and cosmetic dentistry, and limits her practice to these procedures. For patients with a need for dental reconstruction or a desire for cosmetic procedures, your first appointment will be quite unique. Dr. Hollar likes to sit down in our consultation room prior to looking in your mouth, and talk to you about yourself and your dental history, as well as your dental needs and desires. By getting to know you and taking the time to listen, she is able to better serve your dental needs.  This first appointment typically lasts two hours.

The Trial Smile

We understand how helpful it is to see how you will appear and feel with your beautiful new smile. Many of our patients interested in cosmetic procedures are offered a cosmetic preview or "trial smile" at their first appointment.

consultsTo prepare your trial smile, Dr. Hollar temporarily places cosmetic bonding material over your existing teeth, and expertly shapes the "new" teeth. This is done in a matter of minutes, and no numbing or tooth preparation is needed. One look at your new smile will tell you what a thousand words could not explain.

"Before" and "after" trial smile images, like these, can also be placed on this Web site, in a protected area, for viewing by family and friends.

The trial smile also gives Dr. Hollar a reference for future work, and allows her to estimate the number of teeth and cost involved. The fee for the trial smile is included in your initial visit.

Treatment Consultation

Once we have completed a thorough evaluation of your gums, supporting bone structure, bite function, and condition of your teeth, a treatment consults consultation with Dr. Hollar is given. The doctor personally goes over all of her findings, which often includes mounted diagnostic casts of your teeth mounted on an articulator or "chewing machine," her diagnostic wax-up projection, digital x-rays, and digital images. A written "Dental Health Report" is also provided. This individualized notebook provides information including a record of your blood pressure screening, visual oral cancer screening, periodontal or gum condition, current home hygiene care, a copy of your digital x-rays, digital photos of your teeth, and the general condition and age of your teeth. A detailed recommendation of dental care is outlined in this report including hygiene recommendations, treatment options, prognosis, bite analysis, specialty care such as oral surgery and orthodontics, treatment sequence, length of appointments, duration of treatment, treatment fees, and payment options.

Dr. Hollar gives generously of her time to fully explain recommended treatment and to answer all of your questions. Our goal is to have a complete understanding of treatment and fees before beginning. We encourage our patients to bring their significant other to this appointment. There is no fee for treatment consultations.
